<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coder that can realize reduction in a required memory capacity or enhancement of coding efficiency in the case of coding by means of discrete wavelet transformation applied to a moving image. SOLUTION: The coder, that respectively codes a plurality of still images (frames) obtained by dividing a moving image, is provided with coding means (105, 107, 108) that execute coding which includes discrete wavelet transform (105) for the still images and with classification means (102, 104) that compares two consecutive still images to detect different image data parts and the same image data parts of the image data. When each still image is coded, the coding means (105, 107, 108) execute coding only with respect to the different data parts of the still image detected in relation to the preceding still image by the classification means (102, 104) and discard the other data parts.</p> |
