PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized magnetic disk cartridge which is as thin as to be loadable together with a drive assembly into a PC card slot, has a large recording capacity and allows the installation of an easily detectable identification part at the side wall part of a cartridge case while assuring the strength of the case. SOLUTION: The cartridge case C is composed of a base plate 2 and a pair of cover cases 3 and 4 deposited on the top and under surfaces of the base plate 2. A notched part 28 is formed at the side wall 2a of the base plate 2 and a reflection prism P for function identification is housed into the notched part 28 in the form of being supported by the cover cases 3 and 4.
