PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for adjusting the light strength of an image system in order to obtain the desired quality or characteristic of a fetched image. SOLUTION: An illumination adjusting method is the method for adjusting the illumination of a part in an object to be measured corresponding to an important area in the image of the object to be measured, which is generated through the use of the image system, and includes an image fetching process for illuminating the object to be measured and obtaining the image of the object, an image data taking-out process for positioning in the important area and taking-out image data, an image quality selecting process for selecting at least one kind of image quality from taken-out image data and an illumination state adjusting process for adjusting an illumination state till the relation of regions of interest(ROI) selected by at least selected image quality is satisfied.
