PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a joint device for a base isolated building or the like capable of covering a joint part by sliding by the substantially half of the size of the joint part even in the case of rocking to be narrowed or widened by the size of the joint part. SOLUTION: This joint device for a base isolated building or the like is formed by a lower cover deice mounted on the outer wall surface of one building of a base isolated building or the like and on the top part of another lower building installed through a joint part, on upper cover device for covering the joint part mounted on the outer wall surface of one building above the lower cover device, a movable cover slidably provided between the upper cover device and the lower cover device for covering the space between the upper cover device and the lower cover device, a center keeping device mounted on the outer wall surface of the joint part side and having at least two or more central pivot part always located in the central part of the joint part, and a support member mounted on the central pivot part of the center keeping device and fitted with the rear end of the movable cover.
