PURPOSE: A method for collecting statistics of a V5.2 layer 3 protocol message and a V5.2 system manager message is provided to enhance a call completion ratio by collecting statistics of the number of the layer 3 protocol message transmission and receipt to various protocol error messages and collecting statistics of the number of the data link protocol fault and the number of the system manager message transmission and receipt. CONSTITUTION: If a statistic instruction 'STAT-V5-L3PRT' is inputted from an operator(S101), an MSDP(Measurement and Statistics Data Processing) judges whether an instruction input format inputted by the operator is suitable(S102). If a measured object TCP number and interface ID value is inputted and a VICP lower processor needed for execution of V5.2 according to the inputted TCP number is mounted, the start of a V5.2 layer 3 protocol message statistic measurement is informed to an MDGC(Measurement and Data Gathering On Call) and the MDGC generates a child process for performing a corresponding function(S103). The generated child process collects a statistic data, calculates the statistic data during a measurement period, and transmits the statistic data to the MSDP when the statistic data is requested from the MSDP(S104). The MSDP transmits the transmitted V5.2 layer 3 protocol message statistic data to an OC and the OC transmits the statistic result to the operator(S105).
