PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manual gear shift control device for an automatic transmission capable of properly coping with even a down shift request by a manual gear shift mode by a driver during an automatic down shift control. SOLUTION: This control device is provided with a shift instruction means 70 having an automatic gear shift mode and a manual gear shift mode, automatic down shift operation means 62, 63, 65, MAP1 performing down shift operations automatically, driver deceleration will arithmetic means 60, 61, SUB1 calculating and estimating a deceleration will of the driver and down shift execution control means 62, SUB1 controlling down shift operations based on the deceleration will of the driver calculated and estimated by the deceleration will arithmetic means 60, 61, SUB1 when the down shift request by the manual gear shift mode of the driver is given from the shift instruction means 70 during the down shift operations by the automatic down shift operation means 62, 63, 65, MAP1.
