PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat development device which prevents the occurrence of distortion on the surfaces of photosensitive heat developable sheets after heat development by preventing the adhesion of materials, such as photosensitive layer compounding agents, from the photosensitive heat developable sheets on transporting rollers, guides, etc., in bringing the photosensitive heat developable sheets into tight contact with heating members and heating the sheets, then separating the sheets and transporting the sheets in a discharge direction. SOLUTION: This heat development device heats films F including bases and photosensitive layers by the rotating heating member 14 in the state of bringing the films into substantial tight contact with the member in order to heat develop the films F, separates the films F from the heating member and transports the films. A roller pair 404 which comes into tight contact with the films F is disposed in order to transport the films F after the separation of the films from the heating member and at least the rollers on the photosensitive layer side of the films F are composed of thermally insulating elastic rollers. The roller pair is arranged in the regions where the temperature of the films F is the glass transition temperature of the bases or near the same. The thermally insulating elastic rollers are composed of thermally insulating materials having thermal conductivity of <=0.3 W/(m.K) [at 300 K], a void volume of 50 to 80% and hardness of 30 to 70 deg.
