PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roll type photosensitive material package having a constitution that the package is manufactured with shortened manufacturing processes each well- balanced with others in manufacturing capacity at low manufacturing cost and to provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: This roll type photosensitive material package is equipped with a photosensitive material web with a light shielding leader obtained by splicing a light shielding leader covering the photosensitive material web and shielding it from light to the end of the photosensitive material web, a cylindrical core round which the photosensitive material web with the light shielding leader is wound, and a side surface light shielding member covering both end faces of a roll type photosensitive material scroll which is taken up to the core and whose outer peripheral surface is covered with the light shielding leader and shielded from the light and shielding it from the light, and it is shielded from the light by bringing the side surface light shielding member into contact with the light shielding leader. The photosensitive material web with the light shielding leader is obtained by cutting and slitting a member where a wide light shielding leader is spliced to the end of a wide photosensitive material web to specified width.
