摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively provide a device capable of continuously and efficiently cooling granular materials under a non-oxidized state without enlarging the device. SOLUTION: A rotary drum 6 whose interior is held by non-oxidized atmospheric gas is substantially horizontally supported. The rotary drum is charged with the high temperature granular materials (p) to be heated and the rotary drum is rotated to advance the materials to be heated in the rotary drum. In a high temperature area (a) near a side for charging the materials to be heated, water in a water receiving vessel 28a provided in the lower part of the rotary drum is sprayed to the outer periphery of the rotary drum to cool the materials mainly by heat of vaporization. In a low temperature area (b) of the rotary drum near a side for extracting the materials to be heated, the water of the water receiving vessel 28B is circulated to a cooler to spray the cold water to the outer periphery of the rotary drum so that the materials are cooled.
