PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an upright wave-dissipating breakwater caisson which creates a uniform reaction at the bottom surface when the sea waves are calm, restricts the earthquake damages to the minimum after the earthquake trembles severer than expected have occurred and also makes the restoration work easier. SOLUTION: In a breakwater caisson 3 where the center of gravity of a front surface permeable wall 12 plus a retarding chamber 13 is eccentric from the center of bottom surface, an upright wave-dissipating type breakwater caisson having footings 11a extended from the bottom portion of the caisson main body to the wave-dissipating side and opposite side have a uniform reaction at the bottom surface when the sea is calm.
