Top and bottom and side body pieces are formed from a multicellular extrusion (5), mitre-cut for assembly with a rectangular back-board (4), whose edges fit into slots (16) provided in the extruded pieces. The extrusion provides a number of cavities (13) suitable for accommodating electrical accessories, e.g. socket outlets (14), switches, wiring, etc. Those that open into the cabinet may be fitted with removable covers (15). One of the cells (10) bordering the front opening may be equipped with an electric lamp (6), part of the cell wall being replaced by a clip-on translucent diffuser (11). The cabinet will typically have one or more interior shelves and one or more doors (2) at the front. The extrusion includes receptacles (17) for wall fixings (9) and a flange (12) at the front to which a decorative frame or facia (7) can be screwed.
