PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a floor mat sensor with uniform sensitivity to detect a load over the entire floor mat sensor capable of properly detecting the load of an object on the floor and a human's load even when the feet of another human are on the mat. SOLUTION: A floor mat sensor is disposed on a floor surface. A plurality of mat-like conductors 2 and other conductors 4 for detecting the load of a human on the mat composing a detecting means. There is an insulating body 3 between the conductors 2 and the other conductors 4 so that the conductors 2 and the other conductors 4 are kept insulated. In addition, a surface insulating body 5 and a bottom insulating body 6 are glued to the surface of the conductors 2 and the bottom of the conductors 4, respectively to form a capacitor. A change in load 7 due to the feet of a human causes the insulating body 3 to be compressed, changed, and then recover. The sensor detects then a change in static capacity due to a change in insulating distance between the plurality of conductors 2 and the other conductors 4.
