PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance adhesion force between a gap film and a photoresist insulating film and to obtain a thin-film magnetic head having high reliability. SOLUTION: The thin-film magnetic head, provided with a lower magnetic core 4, a magnetic gap film 5, an organic insulating film 6 regulating the zero position of throat height, a coil 8 and an upper magnetic core 7 is characterized in that a magnetic pole defining a magnetic track width is forming at medium facing surface side of the upper and lower magnetic cores and one of SiO2, Ta2O5, Si3N4, TiO2 or WO3 film is used as the material for the magnetic gap film 5 and a closing film 9 is provided at an interface, where the organic insulating film and the magnetic gap film come into contact with each other. An Al2O3 film is formed as the adhesion film 9 and a magnetic gap part has a two-layered structure, consisting of the magnetic gap film 5 and the adhesion film, 9 in a second performing shape.
