PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a base station antenna system for mobile communication having an adaptive antenna function where an antenna section can be prevented from becoming large. SOLUTION: The antenna system is provided with an antenna section 11 having an antenna element 11a with a two-story configuration of an adaptive processing antenna 13a and a main antenna 12a and having an antenna element 11b with a two-story configuration of an adaptive processing antenna 13b and a main antenna 12b, with an adaptive control section 32a that combines an output of the main antenna 12a with an output of the adaptive processing antenna 13b and an adaptive control section 32b that combines the output of the main antenna 12b with the output of the adaptive processing antenna 13a to respectively provide an amplitude and a phase to eliminate an interference signal to a diversity control section 33, and with the diversity control section 33 that applies diversity synthesis to the outputs of the adaptive control sections 32a and 32b.
