PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems of a conventional toroidal type continuously variable transmission having hydraulic cylinders applying a force against a torque transmission reaction to rollers interposed between opposite disks by the same number as the number of the rollers, causing to be a large structure, and also generating a roller vibration caused by the friction of the hydraulic cylinders. SOLUTION: Carriages 10 of the plurality of rollers 9 in a pair of cavities 29 and 30 are connected to one another by a connecting member 11. A single hydraulic actuator 17 collectively applying the force against the torque transmission reaction to the plurality of rollers 9 via the connecting member 11 and the corresponding carriages 10. The hydraulic actuator 17 energizes via the major body 12 of the connecting member 11 so that input disks 3 and 4 and an output disk 6 approach to one another.
