PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dispersion compensation unit that can sufficiently compensate wavelength dispersion in an optical fiber transmission line and a slope of the dispersion even when a dispersion slope compensation rate η of an actually manufactured optical fiber for compensating the dispersion varies. SOLUTION: An optical fiber transmission line 30 is installed between a transmission station 10 and a reception station 20 in the optical transmission system 1. The reception station 20 is provided with an optical amplifier 21, a dispersion compensation unit 22, an optical amplifier 23 and a receiver 24. The dispersion compensation unit 22 is configured with two kinds of dispersion compensation optical fibers 221, 222 that are connected with each other. Respective dispersion slope compensation rates of the dispersion compensation optical fibers 221, 222 are 60% or over. The dispersion slope compensation rate of either of the dispersion compensation optical fibers 221, 222 is 80% or over, and the dispersion slope compensation rate of the other dispersion compensation optical fiber is within a range between 60% and 100%. |
