PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To connect an inexpensive general private branch exchange to a network by a line. SOLUTION: Relating to the line connection device equipped with a switch means which disconnects the line between the private branch exchange and network, an MSK modem which demodulates and generates an MSK signal, and a control part which sends a line disconnection advance notice signal to the network to the MSK modem prior to an on-off signal when equipment as an object of switching processing is telephone sets T1 to Tn and makes the switch means disconnect the line once detecting the line disconnection advance notice signal sent out of the network according to the demodulated signal of the MSK modem, the control part decides that the switching process object equipment is a facsimile machine when detecting a facsimile machine discriminatable signal included in the demodulated signal at least twice successively and a telephone set when not detecting the facsimile machine discriminatable signal, thereby making the switch means disconnect the line once the line disconnection advance notice signal is detected.
