PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a two-dimensional image detector which can avoid dielectric breakdown at the outside of pixel regions due to a high voltage application, accompanying excessive irradiation with X-rays, etc. SOLUTION: The two-dimensional radiation image detector comprises a photoconductive film 2 for converting image information with electromagnetic waves into charges, an active matrix substrate 1 comprising a pixel array layer composed of arranged pixel electrodes 10 connected to the photoconductive film 2 for collecting the charges of this film 2, a wiring layer forming gate lines 20, source lines 24, etc., facing the pixel electrodes 10 via the pixel array layer for detecting the collected charges, first and second insulation protective films 8, 9 located between the pixel array layer and the wiring layer, and common electrodes 3 disposed at positions facing the pixel array layer via the photoconductive film 2 for generating electric fields between the pixel electrodes 10, and the common electrodes 3 are formed into pixel regions 18, where the pixel electrodes 10 are arranged.
