PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an influence on a luminous output even if a ripple is contained in an output voltage of a high voltage source, and to hold down capacitance of a transformer of the high voltage source and a smoothing capacitor. SOLUTION: In an electron beam device of a configuration in which a ripple has to remain in an accelerating potential for accelerating electrons, a line sequential driving for giving plural electron discharge elements an opportunity to discharge electrons at the same time is adopted. Pairs of elements given the opportunity to discharge electrons at the same time are sequentially switched. Further, the ripple frequency is controlled synchronizing with a selected frequency of the line sequential driving.
