PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a practical knitted fabric excellent in resistance against compression set in fatigue despite a thick knitted fabric. SOLUTION: This knitted fabric composed of a surface fabric 1 and reverse fabric 2 formed by a stockinet-based texture and a binding yarn 3 for connecting the above surface fabric and reverse fabric is made to have that (i) the thickness of the knitted fabric T (mm) is that T>=6.0 mm and (ii) the binding yarn index K is K>=550, provided that K=d2f/T2 (wherein (d) is a single filament fineness (denier) of the binding yarn; and (f) is the number of yarns of the above binding yarn single filament per unit area, 1 cm2 of the knitted fabric). As the binding yarn, it is preferable to use a polyester multifilament false twisted processed yarn and it is also preferable that the yarns having substantially no torque or a residual torque in S- and Z-directions are arranged alternately.
