Thick fleece liquid filter with adhesively- or cohesively-bonded fibers is progressively consolidated by fluid jetting to form regions separating particles of differing sizes

Filter fibers are intertwined by fluid jetting from the second side (8) before adhesive and/or cohesive bonding. Jets cause progressive consolidation, increasing from the first side (7) to the second. The differently consolidated regions (A, B, C) separate particles of differing sizes. Preferred Features: Fiber titer is 0.05-50 dtex. Coarse and fine fibers are included, titers differing by a factor of 6 or more. Fine fibers include split fibers produced by jetting. The mean density of the fleece increases in the direction of flow (R) through it. A pile laid on a pre-consolidated substrate assembly is jetted to bond them, forming the fleece, the pile on the secondary side. The layer facing the primary side, contains a greater proportion of coarse fibers than that facing the secondary side. Cohesive bonding is produced by welding the fibers. Adhesive bonding is achieved by a binder. The filter material is jetted over its entire cross section.
