The method involves controling or regulating the position of a choke flap in the induction system, whereby a charger is arranged between the choke flap and at least one inlet valve. A choke flap angle demand is formed using a characteristic field from a demanded air flow at the height of the choke flap and a demanded pressure quotient at the height of the choke flap formed from the ambient pressure and a pressure after the choke flap.
