A disk device includes a negative pressure head slider having a transducer for reading/writing data from/on a disk having a plurality of tracks, and an actuator for allowing the head slider to transverse a track on the disk. The actuator includes an actuator arm rotatably provided on a base, a suspension whose root part is fixed to the front end of the actuator arm, and the head slider mounted on the front end of the suspension. The head slider includes a front pad having an uppermost surface and a step surface lower than the uppermost surface, a transducer formed in the vicinity of an air flow-out end, and a first groove for expanding the air which is compressed by the front pad to generate a negative pressure. A plurality of second grooves are formed continuously and separately in the first groove from the downstream side to the air flow-out end of the front pad.
