发明名称 Improvements in or relating to the production of electrodes for electric cells and batteries
摘要 1,039,194. Electric cells. YARDNEY INTERNATIONAL CORPORATION. July 13, 1964 [July 17, 1963], No. 28796/64. Heading H1B. A pasted electrode is made by mixing a powdered substance, which is thermally decomposable into active material, with a liquid to form a paste, disposing a planar support grid on a flat sheet of refractory non- absorbent material, depositing the paste within the interstices of the grid, exposing the flat sheet, and pasted grid to an elevated temperature sufficient to drive off most of the liquid, to decompose the powdered substance and to cause the powdered substance to adhere to the grid, and finally to remove the grid and paste which now form a plate from the sheet of refractory material. The refractory material is preferably aluminium since this normally has an oxide coating which will not adhere to the active material. As shown, a grid 16, e.g. of silver or copper, is fed from a supply roll 14 on to a refractory foil 13 which passes over a pasting table 12. Active paste, e.g. silver oxide + water, is fed on to the grid from a hopper 17 and is levelled into the grid by a doctor blade 18. The foil 13, grid 16 and paste then pass through a sintering furnace 22 where it is exposed to a temperature of 900‹ to 1200‹ F. for two minutes. The silver oxide decomposes into silver, the particles of which are sintered together and bonded to the grid. The grid carrying the active material is then removed from the foil 13 and is cut to size on a cutting table 26.
