Blades of the propeller have a large area for their relatively small external diameter. They are carried by arms (7) coupled in slots (8) of the supportive boss (9). One end of a spring (10) is fastened to each arm, the other end is fastened to a holder (11) on the shaft (3). Generator and holder are surrounded by a casing (12) which ends near the boss. Power is transmitted from the main generator through a low frequency, e.g. 400 Hz generator. This feeds the split core of a ferrite transformer with an air gap. The lower half of this transformer is coupled to the mast, the upper half rotates, forming a rotary coupling for power transmission. |
