MOTOR PROTECTOR ON NON-ORBITING SCROLL

An scroll compressor (20) has a motor protector circuit (40) mounted on a compressor pump unit with the pump unit including an orbiting scroll (28), a non-orbiting scroll (30), a crackcase (100) and an anti-rotational coupling (102). Preferably the protector circuit (40) is mounted on the non-orbiting scroll (30). As a result of the location of the protector circuit (40), reverse rotation of the orbiting scroll (30) and the increased temperature resulting therefrom is quickly detected which allows the compressor to be promptly stopped.
