<p>A carbonaceous material having hydrogen absorbed therein which is prepared by subjecting a carbonaceous material to a heat treatment in a gas atmosphere which contains hydrogen and does not contain substantially a reactive gas as an impurity, to thereby render the carbonaceous material to absorb hydrogen. The preparation of the carbonaceous material can be carried out together with the cleaning of the surface of the carbonaceous material and only by the control of the time of the heat treatment in a gas atmosphere which contains hydrogen and does not substantially contain a reactive gas as an impurity, which allows not only the miniaturization of a hydrogen storage apparatus, but also the simplification of a hydrogen storage system and a hydrogen storage process.</p> |
