<p>Provided are novel oligopeptides, two to four amino acid residues in length, derived from food protein digest products or chemically synthesized, which exhibit antihypertensive activity. These antihypertensive oligopeptides may be used as active ingredients in pharmaceutical compounds, dietary supplements and food ingredients. The present invention also relates to methods of treatment and prophylaxis of diseases such as myocardial infarction, left ventricularsystolic dysfunction, diabetes mellitus, progressive renal failure and congestive heart failure caused by or associated with hypertension using such novel antihypertensive oligopeptides.</p> |
