A mobile terminal comprises sounding means (7), means (2) for receiving wireless signals, means (3) for detecting a particular signal from the received wireless signals, and control means (10) for prohibiting the sounding means (7) from producing sound depending on the result of detection by the detecting means (3). The mobile terminal ensures the prohibition of sounding in the place where any mobile terminal should be in silent mode.
