The control unit (1) determines the nonvolatile storage switch-ON time from the time signal of a time signal generator (5) for the control status of the transmitted control parameters from the EDP system (3). The control unit monitors the control status of the EDP system using the boot signal for the control channel (2) of the EDP system. The EDP system can be switched into standby mode, and turned ON from standby mode using the boot signal from the control unit. The control unit includes a power supply (4) that operates regardless of the operating status of the EDP system, the time signal generator and a control logic (6). An independent claim is also included for the controlled booting process of an EDP system.
