The heating apparatus (1) has a heat exchanger (3) encased by a boiler chamber (4), into which a flame tube (5) extends. A combustion chamber (6) issues into the boiler chamber via the flame tube. A flow path feeds the flue gases from the combustion chamber to an outlet (11) of the heat exchanger. In order to reduce noise emission from the heating apparatus, a sound absorber (13) is fitted in the flow path or along at least a part of it.
