<p>The valve control system includes a cylinder head, a poppet valve, and a camshaft having a cam lobe formed on it. The control system comprises a first rocker arm engageable with the poppet valve. A second rocker arm is engageable with the cam lobe. A device mounts the first and second rocker arms on the cylinder head for pivotal movement relative to the cylinder head and relative to one another. A device biasses the first rocker arm into engagement with the poppet valve and the second rocker arm into engagement with the cam lobe. Another device selectively interconnects the first and second rocker arms for rotation in unison in response to a force applied by the cam lobe to the second rocker arm. The device for mounting the first and second rocker arms comprises a pivot member received on the first rocker arm, the pivot member having a concave bearing surface formed on it and a convex bearing surface formed on it, and the second rocker arm having a concave bearing surface formed on it in engagement with the convex bearing surface of the pivot member.</p> |
