Defining a watermark for both print and copy

A method for printing or copying a document with a watermark / overlay / template is described, comprising: receiving a document comprising a watermark / overlay; separating the received document into 2 portions - the first portion comprising the watermark/overlay information and the second portion comprising the received document without the first portion; formatting the second portion into separate page files; storing the first portion in computer readable memory; storing the formatted second portion in computer readable memory; selectively combining the stored first portion information and stored formatted second portion to generate a digital representation of at least one page of the finished document.
