The casing contains the opto-electronic conversion elements within the cable connection. The optical connection for one or more optical fibres (1a, 1b) linking these to an electric or electronic circuit comprises a casing formed in two half shells (8, 10). Inside the shell there is an optical matrix (12) carrying the optical fibres (1a, 1b) and an opto-electronic assembly (16) for the transmission and reception of light. The opto-electronic assembly is positioned within the casing and held permanently w.r.t the optical matrix by supporting elements formed inside the shell. Electrical terminal pins are mounted on the opto-electronic assembly, enabling a separable connection to a further complementary electrical connection. |
