PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable high-speed and efficient double side printing in relation to a double side printing apparatus for printing to both faces of papers and in relation to a recording medium by printing after printing data fulfill an arbitrary designated number of sheets and an arbitrary designated time when double side printing is to be carried out, and reducing the number of times of intermittent printing caused by a delay in processing job data or the like. SOLUTION: This apparatus is constituted by including a front drum for printing front pages to papers, a rear drum set to a position separated by a predetermined distance from the front drum for printing rear pages to papers, a means for requesting printing when the designated quantity of the printing data is collected or after the designated time has passed after the start of transferring the data when a printing request is outputted from a host apparatus, and a printing means for ordering the front drum to print to front faces of papers when receiving the printing request from the means, and ordering the rear drum to print to rear faces of papers when the papers are transferred to the position separated by the predetermined distance to reach the position of the rear drum.
