<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing ink binder and a printing ink composition that do not contain an aromatic hydrocarbon in consideration of environmental problems and safety and hygienic problems in workplaces and that are excellent in various characteristics such as transfer to paper, dryability after printing, print gloss, residual solvent rate in a printed matter, and high-speed printability. SOLUTION: This printing ink binder comprises, as main components, a reaction product (1) of a rosin and anα,β-ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid, a modified petroleum resin (2) formed by subjecting a petroleum resin to an addition reaction with anα,β-ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid, and a metal salt of a resin acid (3) obtained by reacting two or more metal compounds in an alicyclic organic solvent. The printing ink composition comprises the binder.</p> |
