PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photochromic molecular material wherein the fluorescence intensity is greatly changed by light control. SOLUTION: The photochromic molecular material is represented by formula [I] (wherein ring A is a hydrocarbon ring or a heterocyclic ring; and ring B and ring C are each a 5-membered aromatic heterocyclic group, provided that ring B and/or ring C has a fluorescent substituent comprising a (non)substituted anthracene residue, an imidazole residue, an indole residue, a terphenyl residue, a fluorene residue or a pyrene residue).
