PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optionally determine a control form for controlling the subject to be controlled according to an observation device to be used in the case of controlling a subject to be controlled. SOLUTION: In a control device for controlling a carriage as a member to be driven via an interlocking mechanism by a DC motor as a driving source, a control part for controlling the carriage, utilizing position information and speed information provided from an encoder for observing the carriage state amount, is provided. Furthermore, the control part has a plurality of control forms so that the optimum control form can be selected according to the installed encoder, and the specification of the printed matter.
