PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a scanning optical apparatus in which dust deposited at an opening for emitting a plurality of laser beams can be removed by a convenient arrangement. SOLUTION: A transparent plate glass 22 closes an opening at the upper part of a housing 12 and a tubular brush 28 is disposed on the transparent plate glass 22. A drive shaft 30 penetrating the tubular brush 28 is fixed with a gear 46 meshing the drive gear 50 of a motor 48. The drive shaft 30 is provided with a pulley 32 around which a wire 34 is wound. When the motor 48 is driven, the tubular brush 28 rotates and moves on the transparent plate glass 22. Consequently, dust deposited on the transparent plate glass 22 can be removed.
