POWER OPERATION SYSTEM FOR VEHICLE LIFT GATE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple power operation system capable of moving a lift gate at an optional position between a completely closed position and a completely opened position without obstructing a loading region. SOLUTION: This power operation system for opening or closing the lift gate 12 of a vehicle is provided with a pair of drive units 22 supported by vehicle pillar parts provided on both sides of a lift gate opening part. Each drive unit is provided with a vertically arranged channel 24 and a rack bar 34 moving in the channel. A link 40 is fitted connectably to the rack bar at one end part and connectably to the lift gate at the opposite side end part. The rack bar is lifted or lowered by a power unit 46 having a driven pinion gear 56 coupled with the lift gate. The lift gate is opened or closed via the link when the rack bar is lifted or lowered.
