PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sewing machine eliminating the need to lubricate a frictional contact part, while allowing reductions in manufacturing load and weight. SOLUTION: This sewing machine 10 has the frictional contact part M where a needle bar 17 and a needle bar upper metal 33 allowing the needle bar to pass therethrough make frictional contact with each other. The surface 17a of the needle bar 17 at the frictional contact part M is subjected to WPC process to form a plurality of microscopic projecting and recessed parts 110 and 111 on the frictional surface 17a.
