PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an easy-to-handle handcart with a brake mechanism having excellent functionality. SOLUTION: In this handcart with the brake mechanism, a brake 9 sequentially locks a wheel 42 and releases the locking by turning an operation lever 97 in a prescribed direction. The brakes 9 are connected to a brake lever 7 installed to a handle 6 through connection means 8, and can lock the wheels 42 or release the locking according to a turn of the brake lever 7. The handcart is provided with an adjustment means capable of adjusting an initial position of the operation lever 97 to one of a locking position of the wheel 42 and a position at which the locking is released. Thus, the handcart allows selection of one of a full-time travel type and a full-time non-travel type.
