PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the pressing of a top brush to an upper surface of a vehicle body by stronger force than press force suitable for washing because the descent of an elevating member doesnot stop, in an upper surface washer for a vehicle having swing arms supporting the top brush and supported in a truck vertically movably supported by a travel frame, and controlling vertical movement of the top brush on the basis of inclined angles of the swing arms. SOLUTION: In this washer, when the top brush 25 contacts with a rear glass and the swing arms 23L, 23R receive force such that the swing arms 23L, 23R are swung forward (in a traveling direction of the travel frame 1) from the upper surface of the automobile V in the washing by a travel of the travel frame 1, the swing arms 23L, 23R are swung forward around support shafts 22L, 22R to stop descent control for the top brush 25, so that the top brush 25 doesnot press the upper surface of the vehicle body by the stronger force than the force necessary for the washing.
