PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recorder in which an image having high image quality can be formed by supplying ink efficiently and stably to a print head. SOLUTION: The ink jet recorder comprises a print head for ejecting ink drops to a recording medium, a subtank for storing ink being supplied to the print head, means for moving the print head between a print position and a reset position while carrying the print head and the subtank, a main tank engaging with the substank at the reset position of the print head, and means for transferring ink in the main tank to the subtank at the reset position wherein the means for transferring ink keeps a constant liquid level in the subtank by supplying excess ink from the subtank back to the main tank. |
