PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic radial tire capable of reducing the weight and maintaining the high speed durability by solving problems such as lowering of plunger resistant performance, deterioration of operability, and generation of groove crack when a stone is caught. SOLUTION: A circumferential belt layer 20B formed of organic fiber cords practically arranged in parallel with a tire equatorial plane CL is provided on an inclined belt layer 20A including a steel cord inclined in relation to the tire equatorial plane CL. The number of the organic fiber cord of the circumferential belt layer 20B at a central area CA is set larger than that of both end areas EA, and rigidity of the central area CA is set larger than that of the both end areas EA so as to restrict the problem such as lowering of plunger resistant performance easy to be influenced by the rigidity of the central area of the belt in the cross direction, and deterioration of operability, and the generation of groove crack in a circumferential main groove 24 when a stone is caught.
