PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable steering angle ratio steering device avoiding wasteful power consumption. SOLUTION: The variable steering angle ratio steering device includes an electric motor 27 making the steering angle ratio of a steering system variable; a steering angle ratio sensor 33 for sensing the actual steering angle ratio (actual eccentricity AE) of the steering system; a target steering angle ratio setting means 41 for setting a target steering angle ratio (target eccentricity CE); electric motor control means 42, 43 and 44 for controlling the electric motor 27 according to the actual steering angle ratio (actual eccentricity AE) and the target steering angle ratio (target eccentricity CE); and an electric motor drive means 45 for outputting an electric motor current IM according to electric motor control signals MS from the electric motor control means 42, 43 and 44. The device also has an output stopping means 46 for stopping the output of the electric motor current IM when the differenceΔE between the actual steering angle ratio (actual eccentricity AE) and the target steering angle ratio (target eccentricity CE) is not greater than a predetermined value SE.
