摘要 932,581. Storing liquefied gases. CONCH INTERNATIONAL METHANE Ltd. Oct. 30, 1961 [Jan. 5, 1961], No. 38687/61. Class 8(2). [Also in Group XXXIII] A container for liquefied gas, e.g. natural gas or methane, comprises a rigid outer shell 4 to which is secured a plurality of heat insulating panels 2 each panel being formed of a honeycomb core 10 the surfaces of which have bonded thereto fluid impervious inner and outer sheets 12 and 14, respectively, the panels being movably fixed in end to end and in side by side relationship to the outer shell 4 and the inner sheet 12 of each panel projecting beyond the edges of the core 4 for interconnection with the inner sheets of adjacent panels. The shell 4 may be the inner hull or the main hull of a ship. The sheets 12 and 14 of adjacent panels are interconnected by expansion members 13 and 15, the latter being joined to the sheets 12 and 14, e.g. by welding, and the space between the panels is filled with insulation material 16. The panels 2 are movably fixed to the shell 4 by ball-mounting means 26 which are secured to the sheets 14 and in which are fitted balls 28 connected to the shell 4 by rods 30, the latter being secured by means of floating plates 32 and 34 and nuts 36. In modifications, Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown) the balls 28 and ball-mounting means 26 are replaced by bellows-type members made of resilient hard material, e.g. stainless steel, or by Belleville springs. In a further embodiment, Fig. 4 (not shown), the expansion members 13 and 15 are dispensed with and the sheets 12 are directly interconnected by butt or lapped joints. In another embodiment, Fig. 5 (not shown), for use when access between the inner and outer hulls of a ship is not available, the panels 2 are fixed to the shell 4 by bellows-type members which are secured to plates welded to the shell 4. Insulation may be disposed in the space between the shell 4 and the panels 2 and a further metal tank may be housed within the insulated space defined by the panels 2. Each panel 2 may comprise a honeycomb core of phenolic impregnated Kraft paper of between 10 cms and 30 cms thick or the core may be made up of several honeycombed sections having a thickness of between 1 cm and 8 cms with barrier sheets therebetween. The insulation 16 between the panels 2 and the insulation between the panels 2 and the shell 4 is preferably of plastic foam material, e.g. phenolic, polyurethane and polyvinylchloride; alternatively fibre-glass bats may be used. The spaces in the core may also be filled with plastic foam material. The inner and outer sheets 12 and 14 may be made of aluminium, aluminium alloys, copper, magnesium, stainless steel or other high nickel steels or austenitic steels, brass, plywood, glass fibre or reinforced plastics. Specification 870,684 is referred to.
