PURPOSE:To provide an alkaline storage battery having explosion-proof safety mechanism operated positively and capable of coping with the sudden rise of battery internal pressure. CONSTITUTION:A compression coil spring 15 with one end part 15a thereof being a pig-tail end is used as explosion-proof safety mechanism for discharging gas, generated in a battery at the abnormal rise time of battery internal pressure, outside the battery so as to prevent the rupture of the battery. A valve body 12 is pressed by the pig-tail end side end part 15a of this compression coil spring 15 to close a valve hole 10. |
