PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a burden of a transmitting person involved in the notification of a password in the handling of the effect that image data is transmitted, acceptance confirmation and image data having high confidentiality. SOLUTION: This image scanning apparatus 100 transmits image data obtained by scanning an original to a printer 300 and also sets a password specifying the transmitted image data. The set password is transmitted to the electronic-mail address of a specified receiver (b) allowed to perform image formation by using electronic-mail. The receiver (b) notified of the password can instruct image formation by inputting the password to the printer 300. When an image is formed, the printer 300 returns print completion notification. The sender (a) transmitting the image data can assume that the copy original is definitely transferred to the specified receiver (b) by receiving the print completion notification.
