The igniter unit has a separately mounted retaining device(31) spaced away from the thread(16) by which the igniter is fitted in the cylinder head(12) and thereby effects an additional fastening of the igniter on the cylinder head. The retaining device consists of at least one mounting section(33) and at least one fastening device(34). The additional retaining device is located outside the shaft(19) in the cylinder head which accommodates the igniter.
